Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant for a 14-week assignment in Tacoma, WA. Working at the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority, you will manage full-cycle payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger financial reporting in a dynamic healthcare administration environment.
Position Details
- Position Type: Contract/Assignment (14 weeks)
- Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)
- Expected Start Date: June 29, 2026
- Expected End Date: October 3, 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll & Compliance: Process bi-weekly payroll for over 250 employees using electronic systems and oversee Affordable Care Act (ACA) payroll-related compliance.
- Financial Management: Manage accounts payable and receivable, perform daily cash analysis, and complete monthly reconciliations.
- Reporting & Audits: Prepare general ledger transactions, financial reports, and assist with budget reviews, grant compliance checks, and internal audits.
- Operations: Maintain vendor relationships, resolve invoice issues, and represent the accounting department in cross-departmental communications.
Key Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (with an Accounting emphasis) including at least 24 credit hours in Accounting from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of direct accounting experience.
- Payroll Expertise: Proven experience handling full-cycle payroll for 50 or more employees.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with automated accounting/payroll software.
