Travel Surgical Technician (ST)

Location: Torrance, CA

Facility: Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (Level 1 Trauma Center)

Position Type: Healthcare / Travel Assignment

Shift: 3x12s Days (Rotating weekends and holidays)

Assignment Duration: 8 Weeks

Expected Start Date: August 13, 2026

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Surgical Technician (ST) to join the surgical team at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center for an 8-week travel contract. Operating in a high-volume, metropolitan Level 1 Trauma Facility, you will support complex, fast-paced surgical cases across diverse patient populations.

In this role, you will play a critical part in preparing operating suites, maintaining strict sterile fields, and anticipating surgeon needs during elective, urgent, and emergent procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize operating rooms and set up sterile fields with appropriate instruments and supplies.
  • Assist surgical teams during complex procedures by anticipating surgeon requirements, passing instruments, and handling specimens correctly.
  • Perform surgical counts (sponges, needles, instruments) alongside the perioperative nursing team to ensure patient safety.
  • Maintain strict aseptic technique and assist with pre- and post-operative patient care in a fast-turnover environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care Surgical Tech experience within a metropolitan, high-volume Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • Credentials: Active Surgical Technician Certification (ST/CST).
  • Required Certifications:
    • AHA BLS
    • Management of Aggressive Behavior (MAB) or CPI training
    • LA City Fire and Life Safety Card (must be LA City specific)
  • Onboarding Clearances: Must complete LA County Employee Health Clearance and Live Scan fingerprinting prior to assignment start date.

Pay & Benefit Package

  • Estimated Weekly Pre-Tax Pay: $1,386.08 – $1,630.68 per week (based on a 36-hour workweek)
  • Hourly Base Rate: $25.00 / hour
