Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown

Location: Torrance, CA (Harbor-UCLA Medical Center)

Position Type: Travel Contract / Assignment

Shift: 3x12 Days (36 Hours/Week)

Weekly Pay Range: $2,273.75 – $2,675.00 / week

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Registered Nurse for a travel assignment at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to patients with complex medical needs, heart conditions, post-cardiac procedures, arrhythmias, and heart failure requiring continuous cardiac monitoring in a Level I Trauma, metropolitan teaching facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care and life-saving interventions to PCU/Stepdown patients, ranging from initial assessment to end-of-life care.
  • Monitor cardiac telemetry and demonstrate expert ECG rhythm interpretation.
  • Manage complex care plans for patients recovering from surgery or experiencing life-threatening conditions.
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation and adhere strictly to facility procedures and Los Angeles County DHS standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent PCU / Stepdown / Telemetry experience in a Level I Trauma facility located in a metropolitan area with a diverse patient population.
  • Licensure: Active California RN License in good standing.
  • Certifications Required:
    • AHA BLS
    • NIHSS Certification
    • Management of Aggressive Behavior (MAB) or CPI
    • LA City Fire and Life Safety Card (must be LA City certified)
  • Clearance: Must complete LA County Employee Health Clearance and Live Scan fingerprinting prior to start date.
