Position Overview
- Job Title: Dishwasher / Prep Cook
- Location: Seattle, WA (Seattle Children's Hospital - Ocean's Cafe)
- Shift & Schedule: 5x8 Days | Wednesday – Sunday (5:30 AM – 2:00 PM) | Days Off: Monday & Tuesday
- Pay Range: $24.20 – $28.47 / hour
Role Overview This position is a dual-role assignment combining approximately 60–80% dishwashing with 20–40% food preparation, adjusted based on daily operational and business needs. Working in a high-volume, safety-focused healthcare food service environment, you will prepare ingredients, ensure high food quality, and uphold strict sanitation standards to serve hospital patients, guests, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Prep: Chop, slice, dice, and peel vegetables; grate cheese; and portion or cut meats and fish according to daily recipe requirements.
- Station Setup & Kitchen Support: Prepare ingredients, sauces, and components for daily meal service; assist chefs with restocking stations and general kitchen maintenance.
- Sanitation & Safety: Maintain a clean, sanitized work environment in compliance with hospital, state, and regulatory food safety standards; execute dishwashing duties to maintain clean cookware, utensils, and service equipment.
- Inventory Control: Monitor food inventory levels, properly label items with dates, and store all food items per safety protocol.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare or hospital food service setting strongly preferred.
- Culinary Knowledge: Basic understanding of safe food handling, cooking techniques, and commercial kitchen equipment.
- Food Safety Standards: Strong commitment to food safety and sanitation standards (valid Food Handler's Permit required).
- Skills: Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment with close attention to detail and precise recipe adherence.
