Dishwasher / Prep Cook
Location: Seattle, WA (Seattle Children's Hospital – Ocean's Cafe)
Position Type: Contract / Travel Assignment
Shift: 5x8 Days (Wednesday – Sunday, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM | Off Monday & Tuesday)
Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week
Contract Duration: 23 Weeks
Pay Range: $24.20 – $28.47 / hour
Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable Dishwasher / Prep Cook for a 23-week assignment in Seattle, WA. This role consists of approximately 60–80% dishwashing and 20–40% food preparation, adjusted based on daily operational needs. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume, safety-focused healthcare environment and brings prior kitchen or healthcare culinary experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Prep: Chop, slice, dice, and peel vegetables; grate cheese; and cut meat or fish following standard recipes.
- Station Setup: Prepare ingredients, sauces, and station components for daily service.
- Sanitation & Safety: Maintain a clean, sanitized work environment in compliance with facility and regulatory health standards.
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels, label, date, and properly store food items.
- Kitchen & Dishroom Support: Perform dishwashing duties, assist with restocking stations, and keep the kitchen organized for efficient workflow.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Prior experience in high-volume food preparation or kitchen environments (healthcare dining experience preferred).
- Skills & Knowledge: Basic understanding of culinary techniques, knife skills, and standard commercial kitchen equipment.
- Efficiency & Detail: Strong organizational skills with the ability to work quickly while adhering precisely to food safety protocols.
- Certifications: Must meet all local food handler permitting and food safety requirements.
