Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP)

Location: Vashon, WA

Facility / Client: Thunderbird Treatment Center (Seattle Indian Health Board)

Position Type: Local Contract / Temp-to-Hire / Permanent

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (Expected Start: August 17, 2026 – November 14, 2026)

Schedule: 4x10s | Day Shift (7:00 AM – 6:00 PM window) | Includes quarterly on-call evening/weekend rotation

Pay Range: $34.85 – $41.00 / hour (Weekly Direct Deposit)


Job Overview

We are seeking dedicated Substance Use Disorder Professionals (SUDP) for contract and temp-to-hire opportunities at the Thunderbird Treatment Center on Vashon Island, WA. In this role, you will deliver direct clinical SUD counseling services rooted in traditional Indian medicine and guided by the IndigiKnow Model of Care, supporting relatives through culturally integrated, trauma-informed behavioral health treatment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Assessments: Perform ASAM assessments, incorporating personal, physical, social, psychological, and spiritual evaluations.
  • Direct Counseling & Treatment: Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for relatives and their families in alignment with established service plans.
  • Case Management & Care Coordination: Develop culturally sensitive individual service plans (ISPs), coordinate community resources for rehabilitation, and serve as a liaison with courts and social service agencies as needed.
  • Confidentiality & Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with Washington Administrative Codes, SIHB internal policies, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2 privacy regulations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work under the guidance of the SUD Clinical Supervisor within a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care across outpatient and residential treatment programs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Licensure: Active Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) License in the State of Washington.
  • Education / Experience: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in addiction counseling or a closely related field, OR a minimum of 5 years of experience working as an SUDP counselor.
  • Cultural Competency: Knowledge of American Indian / Alaska Native (AI/AN) history, culture, and community health needs preferred, with a strong commitment to serving indigenous populations.
  • Background Check: Candidates must successfully complete an acceptable background check prior to start.
  • Driver's License: Valid Washington State Driver’s License with proof of car insurance preferred.
