Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Juvenile Corrections | Sylmar, CA

Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Sylmar, CA

Setting: Juvenile Detention Facility / Inpatient Corrections

Shift: 5x8s (40 hours/week) — Schedule based on service needs

Assignment Duration: 18 Weeks (Start Date: 08/17/2026 – End Date: 12/19/2026)

Pay Range: $1850-$1880 per week


Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team providing coverage within a medium-security juvenile detention facility in Sylmar, CA. Working alongside interdisciplinary partner agencies, you will deliver essential primary, preventive, and emergency nursing care to support the overall health and well-being of youth within the facility.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care, physical assessments, and triage for juvenile residents in a 24/7 correctional healthcare setting.
  • Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and immunization updates accurately.
  • Manage initial emergency medical responses and collaborate closely with facility physicians, dentists, mental health professionals, and lab staff.
  • Document patient health histories, treatments, and health updates according to facility and LA County Department of Health Services standards.
  • Educate youth on healthy habits, preventive care, and self-care management to empower them upon returning home.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of recent RN experience in a correctional setting (Inpatient preferred). 2 years of Psych experience (specifically Pediatric/Adolescent Psych) is highly preferred.
  • Licensure: Active California (CA) Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • Certifications: Active AHA BLS, ACLS, MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior), and LA Fire Safety certification.
  • Reliability: Excellent attendance record; must be able to commit to 3 shifts per week.
