Pay Range: $24.20 – $28.47 / hour

Shift / Schedule: Day Shift (5:30 AM – 2:00 PM), 5x8s / 40 hours per week (flexibility in days off preferred)

Expected Duration: 8/17/2026 – 1/2/2027

Position Overview

Seattle Children’s Hospital is seeking a dedicated Dishwasher / Prep Cook to join the team at Ocean's Cafe. In a high-volume, safety-focused healthcare facility, this role plays a vital part in maintaining nutrition, sanitation, and safety standards for patients, families, and staff.

Please note: Approximately 80% of daily duties will focus on dishwashing, with 20% focused on food preparation and kitchen support.

Key Responsibilities

• Dishwashing & Kitchen Sanitation (Primary Focus):
  • Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work stations in compliance with hospital, local, and regulatory food safety standards.
• Food Preparation:
  • Chop, slice, dice, and peel vegetables; grate cheese; and cut meats/fish.
  • Set up stations by preparing ingredients, sauces, and components for daily recipes.
• Inventory & Station Support:
  • Monitor inventory levels, label food properly, and store items safely.
  • Assist with restocking stations, cleaning work areas, and supporting kitchen workflow.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience & Knowledge:
  • Previous kitchen, culinary, or food service experience required (healthcare kitchen experience preferred).
  • Basic understanding of culinary techniques, kitchen equipment, and sanitation standards.
• Skills & Abilities:
  • High efficiency and ability to work quickly in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and precise adherence to recipes and safety protocols.
  • Washington State Food Handler Permit (or ability to obtain before start).
• Compliance Requirements:
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination on file.
